Summer School is a major programme for the RNZPBA each year, and one which we eagerly look forward to. It is very well supported by all age groups and the feedback from students, mainly local, but some travelling from overseas, is always very positive.
Early enrolments for Summer School 2022, to be held at St Andrews College in Christchurch in January, were high and looking to surpass the 120 registrants for the Wellington January 2021 school.
In November 2021, the Summer School Management team, supported by the RNZPBA Management Board, became increasingly concerned about the health risks for students, tutors and the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and made the tough call to cancel the school.
So where to from here?
Summer School management, and the Board, are keen to do something to fill the void, so a winter school is one option being considered, as are small North Island and South Island schools or long weekend camps throughout our eight Centres.
With the COVID-19 landscape changing on an almost daily basis, such decisions will be made in January 2022. There is strong motivation to do something, as doing nothing until January 2023 is not our focus.
As plans develop, updates will be posted on the website and on social media.
