Highland Piping Society of Canterbury’s Silver Chanter Competitions
October 26 - October 27
These competitions are held at St Andrew’s College in Christchurch with the Novice to B Grade events held on the Saturday, the MSR Silver Chanter event on the Saturday evening, all Open Grade events on the Sunday and the MMSSRR Clasp event on the Sunday evening.
With prestigious prizes and trophies on offer, this contest regularly draws a large number of solo piping competitors, including some from overseas.
First established in 1976, these championships enjoy international attention in the piping media and often feature some of the most accomplished judges in the world.
The weekend culminates with the elite March, Strathspey and Reel Silver Chanter and Clasp events, which are restricted for pipers of the highest quality.
